Lecture 8 - Digital Safety

This subject was revisited by Mark and presented from a slightly different angle. The overall message is about taking responsibility over your reputation.

I love the new word netiquette which we have been hearing for several years now and it is perhaps not a bad thing to revisit it occasionally.

I have chosen to do a movie using the site Roshi directed me to: http://www.xtranormal.com. It was very time consuming and not nearly as instructive as Roshi's but I hope you enjoy (just a little) the feisty teenagers engaging in some reflective talk.

  1. Helena, that looks really great - I also went on Xtranormal today, but didn't get anywhere as inventive as you did! I found it quite easy to use but struggled composing my message. I really like yours.

  2. Helena that is fantastic! Well done! Did you write the script? It must have taken you ages. I wish I had more time to be as creative as you, but have to go to work during the day and at night feel so tired and there are no creative juices flowing at all!

I tend to write loooooooooooooooong posts but really something like yours is so effective and gets the message across.

So I say well done again and you go girl! :)

PS what did your children think of it?

  3. Your animation nicely captures a lot of the digital safety, privacy and reputational issues we've been discussing. And yes, netiquette definitely has a (growing) place in education!

  4. Congrats, Helena!

I told you it wasn't that bad, only time-consuming though. Love the content of it, you really put across the ideas well! :)

  5. Hi helena - Good comment about how long it was since they had covered netiquette. Its a really good point - maybe it is something teachers have to constantly revisit - and update as the technology changes (even if they run the risk of being view as a boring old fart!)
